Life of a vixen... in living color!
Jun. 9th, 2003 11:28 pmWow, it's been a while since I've posted here... so much has happened... so little time to write it out now.
I've got the what has to be the most boring job in the world right now.... working through Manpower at a place called Pretium Packaging. My job? To pack 12 oz. mustard bottles into boxes as they come out of the bottle blower. You think this sounds like fun? The machine runs 2000 of those stupid things an hour, when it's working right... so in 8 hours, we average 14,000 a shift. 12 to a box... you do the math. Plus we have to run the boxes through a tape machine first to tape the bottoms shut. It's mind melting boring... and hot... and noisy... and it's killing my middle back for some reason. It's not that I have to bend or lift anything heavy.... more of a twisting at the waist and using the arms and hands. Maybe my back is permanently messed up worse than I thought from the farm accident I had back in '92? I sometimes wonder if I can actually do any physical work without suffering pain all the time anymore? But Manpower says there are no office jobs available... I wonder if they are taking my managerial and bookkeeping experience into account.. or do they just assume all guys should work in factories and all women in offices? I have yet to see a male who works here for Manpower in any office type job, which is what I would really prefer right now. Or some kind of computer or tech support job. Or a cashier... heck anything that does not involve a lot of physical labor. But no, they stick me in these stupid factories when I told them up front I did not really want that kind of a job. But... it does give me a paycheck, albeit a small one... I'm making $6.50 an hour... and with each passing hour I think my brain melts a little bit more.
On Saturday, Kodiak and myself went for a day trip to White Pines Forest State Park, about 60 miles northwest of where I live. It's so nice there... hiking trails, 2 streams to ford to get into the park... I always relax when I get to go there. Then we decided to go to Louden State Park about 10 miles east, near Oregon, IL. There is a 60 foot tall statue of Blackhawk, who fought against Abe Lincoln in the Blackhawk War in the 1820's or 1830's... I can't remember exactly when. Another incident of the Army forcing the Native Americans from their land... sad history I know. Then we decided to drive northeast along the Rock River towards Rockford IL, just because it's a pretty drive. We passed through the town of Byron, which has a large nuclear power plant with HUGE cooling towers nearby. I wonder if a bit of radiation escaped though... because we saw this sign on one of the local taverns where we crossed the river...
"Byron, IL... Home of the Turkey Testicle Festival"
I kid you not! I wish I had my camera with me that day... I just cannot even start to think what that has to be like....
Some of you may have noticed a few days ago that I had posted about a possible new girlfriend for me.... well, the word has now leaked out as to her identity. And since we discussed this, it is now ok for me to post her name.... anyone care to guess before I tell the world? She lives in Nashville, TN.... and has a LiveJournal... and has the cutest bunny fursuit.... and she is a really sweet and wonderful lady that has written me the most wonderful letters and emails. We are taking things slowly of course... nothing other than a friendship between us for now, but we have hopes for more in the future. And yes, she and I have talked of the other people in her life and we agree that this will be different for me, being as I have not been involved in a polyamorous relationship before. But I am willing to give it my honest effort, as is she. And before anyone jumps to conclusions about Yotewah, she and I are still friends and talk a lot too. Things are not as they once were between her and I, but we have an understanding now, and I think we both can live with it the way we settled things.
Ok, I have to get some sleep... I'm passing out at the keyboard again here.
