Furry Picnic Plans
Mar. 30th, 2003 02:12 pmHi all. After doing some preliminary planning, I'm finally going to set a
date for this proposed event that I have been thinking of for a while. What
I'm planning is a day long picnic at Starved Rock State Park, located off of
I-80 about 2 hours southwest of suburban Chicago. I'm planning this for May
24th, which is a Saturday. I was out there today and talked to the people in
charge, and they will not reserve picnic shelters, but told me rather to
arrive about 8AM and set up in a shelter to save it for the day. So that is
what I'm going to do, if I get enough replies to warrant me doing this. I
know several of you have expressed interest and I hope to see you show up
for a day of fun. I'll provide charcoal, grilling utensils, paper plates,
cups, ice and soda/drinks. What you want to bring is up to you, but I would
suggest burgers or hot dogs... or we can do things similarly to the LAFF
softball games and everyone chip in $5.00 and we'll do a grocery run. The
nearest grocery store is about 10 miles away though. So please, if anyone is
interested, reply either here on the list, or to my personal email,
butterscotchvixen@hotmail.com Or you could always call and leave me a
message. 815 883-8699 I'm usually home in the evenings after 4:30 PM I
think this will be a fun day. Lots of space out there, a neat visitors
center, lodge, gift shops, and tons of hiking trails. Plus there is the
Illinois river to fish in, though they don't allow swimming.
