I know, I stole that from Quasi, but it fits. I had a court hearing yesterday, since my ex tried to get me on charges of contempt for not paying her as I was supposed to be doing. Well, here's the lowdown. In our divorce, I was to pay her $100 a month for 54 months, basically the difference between what our house appraised at and what was owed on the day we filled the divorce papers, I had paid her $1900 up until July. Now, some of you know, I was fired from my last job on May 3rd of this year, and since my wonderful ex-boss (hack hack cough choke gag) ran my payroll through a temp agency, and somehow they decided not to report all of my earnings correctly, I am receiving just about half of what I earned previously in unemployment checks. Well, needless to say, after paying the necessary bills and mortgage payments, there is no money left to pay her. She had said that she understood. I also have my house up for sale, and had told her as a condition of that, she would be paid in full upon closing if and when the house sells. Well, one day after I missed July's payment, she goes and files the papers with the court that I'm in contempt??? Anyway, I realize there is nothing I can do about it, so I go in to court yesterday with only the list of payments I had made to her so far, hoping the judge will listen to reason.
So.. they call us up, and the judge asks her why we are here. She cannot even answer! She starts to stammer, and he rolls his eyes at her. Not a good way to start... but then, this is exactly what she did at the divorce hearing also. The judge then looks at me, and I explain about why I haven't paid, and my circumstances. He looks at my payment list, and looks at her, and said something to the effect "What do you expect from him? He does have a very good excuse for not paying, and you should be understanding and not waste this court's time" I can hardly believe it then, when he suspends all payments from me to her until such time as I gain Full Time employment again, or sell my house and pay her off in full. He then proceeds to start to go on to her about how she should have known that I was unemployed and not to bring anything like this to court again... and she knew I had lost my job, as I had told her when it happened. I swear, she is not all there in the head some times... oh well. And she got stuck with the court costs and filing fees also... *grins*
I really wonder sometimes why I ever did marry her. Maybe I'm the one who is wrong in the head? If so, oh well.
The quest for my future also continues. I'm getting things in order to facilitate my move to South Carolina as soon as the house here is sold, so I can start anew with a vixen there who has captured my heart, DJ Vix-N. A lot of you who read my LJ regularly know she and I would like to try to make a life together... and we are both very excited about this move. Wish us luck, please.
Well, that's about enough for now... I have to go and add some new descriptions of me to my FurryMuck character, courtesy of Sslaxx, my dear friend there. This will be an interesting and fun task. I also need to decide which descriptions there that I never use anymore I should get rid of. Regardless, I'll be sure to save copies of everything to a .txt file for any possible future use.
